Northern SUP Racing is a collaboration of Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Clubs & Schools working together to organise races which support the development of SUP in North of England.

The final race in the Northern SUP Racing Winter Series 15/16 will be hosted by us on 23rd April at the National Trust's Fell Foot Park.

We would like to encourage participation from as many people as possible:

  • Spectators
  • Beginners who need to hire a board and give the challenge a go
  • Enthusiasts and first time racers looking to enjoy the challenge of completing
  • Series Racers looking to "bag some points" for the series

There will be three classes of race:

  • 3km - for all abilities on all round boards under 12'6
  • 5km - for 12'6+ boards
  • 1km - for Juniors

    All entry Fees will go directly towards covering the cost of Venue and Safety Boat Hire.

    The park has recently started a re-build to include a new watersports centre which means limited access to the normal amenities this year. More details to follow on this.

    Race Registration and Payment:

    Please note you must register online at northernsupracing even if you have paid online.

    Race Day Outline

    9.30 - Arrivals

    Please park at the second carpark (furthest south) this gives better and quicker access to the waters edge as well as a good grassed area for putting your boards on. Parking is PAY & DISPLAY but free for NT members.

    The race start and finish will be based from near this carpark, however the toilet and changing area is at the northern end of the park just a few minutes walk away.

    10:00 - 11:15 - Registration

    Please make the effort to register for the event prior to race day but we will have a sign-in and collection of race bib between 10.00 and 11.15. This will be at the cafe area at the northern end of the park. Online registration can be completed by visiting

    11:30 - Race Briefing

    Following the close of the registration at 10.30 we will hold the race briefing for all participants.

    12 noon - Race Start

    Race start will be 12.00 prompt with 14ft class followed by 12’6 class followed by all others. There will be a 2 minute interval between each start.

    Weather permitting we will be offering a 3km senior entry race for all boards and a 5km senior intermediate race for 12’6 and 14ft boards.

    Safety - Due to low water temperatures, there can be no exceptions to these rules. 

    All participants are required to:

    1. Ensure they have leash attachment to their board
    2. Wear a PFD/Buoyancy Aid or Life jacket

    We can provide buoyancy aids FOC but please email at least 2 days in advance with your chest size.

    We will provide powered safety craft for the event as back up to self rescue.

    Prize giving

    Prize giving and feetwarming will take place in the original cafe (changing area).

    Over the week-end

    For those making a weekend trip to the lakes we are also hoping to get on the water on the Saturday.
