WCK in this month’s ‘Canoe Focus’ magazine. PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 03 October 2008 15:49

Windermere Canoe Kayak gets a mention in this month's ‘Canoe Focus' magazine.

See if you can find it!

The feature is written by Ray Hudspith our regional Canoe England representative. Part of the article is based on a kayaking session and an interview with Matthew Stidston - our resident kayaking guru.

The main thrust is on the benefits of ‘sit on top' style kayaks.

The main picture in the article is of our boats being used at an event on Loch Tay in Scotland. For more information on our event organisation, event support and sponsorship check out our events page (coming soon).

You may have seen Matthew's name appear in other kayaking/ canoeing publications as he is a keen freestyle kayaker and is currently doing quite well in the 'Alpkit Sport League'. - There will be a news item on this soon. - for now check out the gallery to see how matt is doing.

River Levels Web Cam Sponsored by WCK! PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 07 January 2008 03:32

River Leven Web Cam Sponsored by WCK!

The Leven cam has been kindly funded by the Leven fund and sponsored and located at Windermere Canoe Kayak. The Levels are recorded, displayed and discussed on the rainchasers website.

The Web Cam is perched in our shop window and points towards the shores of Windermere. Because the lake feeds the river it will be possible to gauge its level and sus out what features are working. Eventually there will be a selection of calibration pictures displaying lake and subsequent river levels.

This is what the rainchasers crew had to say about the new cam:

Shorty - 29th December 07

"THis week should be a good we to get calibration photos for the Leven . Neds away for a few days and I wont be passing today, but if anyone is around the Leven and have a camera if you can grab a few shots of interest of the bridge, brick chute etc.. and let me know when it was taken I can try to match it to the webcam. The cam has been moved down a bit, there is a big yacht dolly in the water that we are told wont be moving and gives a good indicator of the water level on the bank of Windereme, looking at it this morning the dolly is covered so I am expecting the Leven to be high. "

Thanks to Ned and Shorty for their continued technical support.

Windermere Canoe Kayak supports Mpora.com PDF Print E-mail

Joe Beaumont Manager of WCK, Finally gets in a boat!!!!

Mpora.com contacted WCK to support an on-line advertisment for the new Ford S-max.

They wanted to take a their star down some gnarly river and beast him. But sadly due to lack of water in the rivers, we opted for a more leisurely approach and took to Lake Windermere in one of our many Necky Amaruk tandem sea kayaks.
