 Where can you go?

Your route will be discussed with you when in store. Some maps are available with hire and others available to buy (Ordinance Survey Maps).

When hiring out bikes for the day you have the freedom to go wherever you want, time permitting of course.

For families and small children:

Exploration of Claife heights is recommended to most customers. This route involves a trip to the quieter side of the lake via the car ferry. The first leg traverses the edge of lake Windermere where an easy gradient allows the spectacular views of the lake and surrounding fells to be admired.

For Adults and older children:

The same bridle way then turns west and begins to enter the steeper off road terrain of Claife Heights Forest. It is here that you can choose between taking on the forest tracks through the heart of Claife Heights or the easier country lanes. Both routes lead to the popular tourist haven of Hawkshead where there are shops and restaurants a plenty. From Hawkshead a short ride along well sign posted roads will take you back to the ferry. However if you still have lots of energy a ride around Ethswaite water is a nice addition to your ride before the return ferry journey.

For the more adventurous:

Cycle to Ambleside and back via both sides of the lake! Or just one way by using the Windermere ‘Lake cruisers’. - Landing at the main water front at Bowness and at Water Head Ambleside.

For the Super fit:

Circumnavigation of Lake Windermere has been completed by a handful of customers (35+ kilometres).
