Despite the Lake District’s typical weather, this years Windermere Summer Solstice Lake Race was a success. The day started with calm waters and bright sunshine which eventually developed in to strong winds and rain……lovely! The aim of the game was to paddle either the long course of 10.5 miles or the standard course of 5.5 miles. Firstly we would like to thank everyone who took part in this year’s race. Well done for fighting against the weather and coming across the finish line looking tired but happy.
We would also like to thank the 3 Dragon Boat teams for taking part in the race and we look forward to seeing more of you next year. If you would like to find out more about the Three River Serpents (http://www.threeriverserpents.co.uk/)and Paddlers for Life (http://www.paddlersforlife.co.uk/) have a look at their website
Thank you to all who travelled from far and wide to join in the race. We had paddlers from Newcastle, Wakefield, Durham, Sheffield, Angus, Cheshire, Peak District, Stoke on Trent, Conwy and many many more! We would like to thank Fell Foot Park for letting us host the event final. And last but not least thank you to all the staff from Windermere Canoe Kayak and Total Adventure for making the event possible this year.
